How to Bake Winter Squash

Cut the squash in half and place it upside down on a cookie sheet with sides or a cake pan. Add 1/4 inch of water to the pan. Bake at 350-375 degrees for 45 mins to 1 1/2 hours depending on the size of the squash. The squash should be for tender.

How to Bake Acorn Squash

Wash, cut in half lengthwise and scrape out seeds and pulp. Dust with salt and pepper; dot with butter. Put cut side up in a pan with 1/2 inch of water. Bake at 375 degrees for 45-50 mins. Allow 1/2 squash per person.

How to Bake Spaghetti Squash

Bake spaghetti squash whole. Pierce the squash several places with a carving fork or knife. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 mins to 1 1/2 hour, depending on the size. Cool slightly then cut in half and scoop out seeds. Use fork to remove spaghetti strands. Toss strands with melted butter, garlic salt and parmesan cheese as desired.

Sliced Butternut Squash Casserole

  • 1 med butternut squash
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup cream or milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Peel and slice squash.

Place alternate layers of squash, onion, crumbs, cheese, salt, pepper and butter in a buttered casserole. Add cream. Cover and bake at 375 degrees for 20 mins.

Uncover and bake 10 mins more.
