Okame Cherry is the one of the first trees to bloom in the Spring. The carmine-pink petals are fully open by late February and remind us that spring is just around the corner. It has a nice bronze to orange-red fall leaf color. Okame is almost broad-columnar when it is young and grows into a more rounded shape with age finally reaching 20-25' tall. The shiny reddish-brown bark is very nice in winter. It is a fairly rapid grower, and it's small stature makes it very uselful to be planted beside a patio or deck. It lends itself very well for use as a specimen tree on smaller properties.
