GRASS - FOUNTAIN RED HEAD (pennisetum)
Narrow-bladed green foliage arches to form a fountain-shaped mound, becoming a beautiful gold in the fall. This early-blooming grass begins to show huge, smoky-purple, bottlebrush plumes, measuring 3" wide by 8-10" long, in mid to late summer. A deer resistant grass. Mature height 3 to 4 feet.
** It is BEST to cut your grasses back in late February to early March in order to protect the roots and ensure the health of your plants. If your ornamental grasses become a bit unruly by the end of the fall cut them back to only one half the height of the plant and leave the rest for early spring.
